We begin learning the moment we are born. Research shows that 80% of the brain is developed by age 3.

Children who have strong language skills have a better chance for a strong start in life.  Strong language skills allow children to be able to advocate for themselves.  They can better express their needs and wants clearly.

A child’s first teacher is his/her parents.  Schools receive children at age 5 and are responsible to teach children how to read, write, and do math.  Children coming into school who already know how to use language effectively are better prepared to receive instruction from teachers.

NO! They are very simple and fun!  In fact, they are so basic most good parents do these five things naturally.  The Proverbs Project’s mission is to share these five simple methods so parents may do them purposefully.

There are no guarantees in life. However, these five simple things to do are a result from extensive research and testing done by Dr. Ronald Ferguson of Harvard University and are proving to be effective.

There are many individuals who support the project ranging from retired school teachers and day care operators to city council members and health officials.  The DeSoto County Ministerial Association has formally endorsed the Proverbs Project.

There are no funds associated with the project at this time. To this point, any financial support has been provided through in-kind services and volunteerism. Grants will be sought and monetary donations may be made through the DeSoto County Ministerial Association. No government funding is being sought.
